Day 4: Into the Woods

Image
Today, we crossed back into Germany to go into Schvartzwald, AKA the Black Forest. It is said to be so dense that it looks black from the outside. Although we didn't spend much time in the forest, we still got to see some pretty neat stuff. Since we got that missing luggage back, we had nothing else to worry about and we could just enjoy the trip. Our first stop of the day was the town of Freiberg. It was a small university town full of shops, restaurants, and other hidden wonders. We had a walking tour and went inside of a working market. We also got to see the insides of another church, the Munster. Along the way, we got a present for Charlie, our dog. It was a leash for him. We also had lunch at Five Guys, which despite being the same food as it is in America, it is done much differently. Speaking of shops, something funny happened on our way back to the bus. Mom had some garbage to throw away, so she went into a small gift shop on the way back. A woman in front of her had just ...

Day 3: Tour de France (not the kind with bikes though)

Today is when the tour began. We had breakfast and met the tour guides, Mark and Curtis. They would be the ones leading us on this tour. We got to ride in this big, black bus driven by a German driver by the name of Matthias Baus. On the tour, we met some interesting people, including Carol Manning and her husband Scott (who looks like Uncle Vernon from Harry Potter). They were the parents of Dad's mission partner, whom he worked with while he was in Ukraine. Our first stop was the small, charming French village of Riquewhir. Known for its wine producing, it has been a long-preserved Medieval town. Walking around is like being in Belle's village in Beauty and the Beast. This guy leaning against the fountain is Mark by the way. While we were in Riquewhir, we had lunch at this authentic French restaurant. This was the kind of meal where they bring you courses. Even though we were unfamiliar with the food, we still ate it. The first course was an egg-onion pizza thing, which was...

Day 1-2: The Beginning

(Insert Picture Here) This has been something we've been wanting to do for a long time. I've been wanting to see the world since I was young, so this was a big experience for me. To have it for my graduation trip is a blessing. I'll have to admit though, it got off to a rough start. We got on a plane to Atlanta, but we never made it there. Why? Because it took too long to get the plane going, so we wouldn't have made our plane to Frankfurt in time. Yes, I was frustrated about it, and I hated waiting, but at least we got to another flight to Paris. It got the longest part of the traveling over with and it got us to Europe sooner. (Insert more photos, other of airport and macaroons) Paris had three separate airports, and the one we went to was kind of strange. We had to take buses to certain parts of the airport, we had to go through security three times, and we had a rather difficult time navigating it. We spent time eating lunch and looking around. I wanted to see if t...
