Day 7: Swiss Family Marker

Since we had one more day in Lauterbrunnen, our tour group went around and explored the area a bit. There were some things everyone wanted to see before we left and the tour group made sure to include it all. Luckily, our bus driver took us to all the places we wanted to go.
First, we went to St. Beatus's, a monastery perched on top of a waterfall. It was dug into a cave where, according to legend, a monk slew a dragon. We didn't see the cave but others did and they said it was pretty cool. I wouldn't have been able to do it because of all the tight spots in there. Mom and I did see a small museum, but to our disappointment, it was more about the geological history rather than the legend behind it.
Second, we wanted to do the alpine slides, so we went over to the neighboring valley of Grindelwald. There, we took a gondola up to the top of the hill, where the slides were. We got onto the slides and went racing around the tracks. Even though the ride was mediocre to me, the others went again and again. At least the area offered some impressive views.
After doing the slides, we went back to Lauterbrunnen and just hung out around the area. Mom and I went to check out the waterfall, but that's about it when it came to activities. We were exhausted from the day's events and needed a rest.

I was surprised by Switzerland. I thought it would be my favorite, probably because of all the people I've heard say it's their favorite. Even though it was still pretty nice, it was actually my least favorite of the countries we visited.

  1. I agree! I loved seeing Switzerland, but it was also my least favorite of all the places we saw. Though I still have fond memories of it.
